How many sleeps until Christmas?

Snuggle in. Santa is counting the nights too.

74sleepsuntil Christmas morning, Friday, December 25, 2026.

Tap it at bedtime to light tonight's star.

Santa fast asleep in his bed under a red quilt, with his teddy bear

Every star is one sleep. Light one each night.

Some families count sleeps. Some count weeks, weekends or Mondays.

How many weeks until Christmas?

10 weeks, 4 days

That's 74 days in all. Seven sleeps make a week, so here's one book for every week.

How many weekends until Christmas?

10 weekends

Counting this one if it's still going. That's lots of slow Saturday mornings.

How many Mondays until Christmas?

10 Mondays

Mondays after today and before Christmas Day. Ring, ring, up you get!

A sleep chart to color in

Tape it up by the bed. From December 1, color in one star each night. When all 24 are bright, Santa is on his way.

Only the chart prints.

Christmas morning: Santa has been!

Little bedtime traditions

Small things that make the waiting feel cozy.

  1. Write to Santa

Tell him your wishes before lights out. He always writes back. Write your letter

  2. Light tonight's star

Say goodnight to Santa and watch your sleep sky fill up, one star at a time.

  3. One story, then sleep

A Christmas story is the coziest kind of goodnight.

  4. Hang your stocking

On Christmas Eve, leave cookies and milk for Santa and a carrot for the reindeer. It's a long night of flying.

  5. Too wiggly to sleep?

Talk to Santa and tell him all about your year.

Questions whispered at bedtime

Once upon a bedtime, some sleepy someones asked…

“How do you count sleeps until Christmas?”

One sleep is one night in bed. Count the nights from tonight until Christmas morning. If Christmas is three mornings away, there are three sleeps to go. The night of Christmas Eve is the very last one.

“Does tonight count as a sleep?”

Yes, it does. Tonight is the first of the sleeps left, and Christmas Eve is the last. On Christmas Eve there is just one more sleep until Santa has been.

“How many sleeps are there from December 1?”

Twenty-four sleeps, from the night of December 1 to Christmas morning. That's why so many advent calendars have 24 little doors, one for every sleep.

“When does the number of sleeps change?”

At midnight, while you're fast asleep. This page counts on your own device's calendar, so families in different time zones each see their own number.

“How many sleeps until Christmas Eve?”

One fewer than the sleeps until Christmas. Christmas Eve is the day before, so when there are 10 sleeps until Christmas, there are 9 until Christmas Eve.

“What can we do on the nights before Christmas?”

Write Santa a letter before bed. Color in one star on the sleep chart. Read a Christmas story. And on Christmas Eve, leave out cookies and milk for Santa and a carrot for the reindeer.

The end. Sweet dreams.

One more thing before bed

Write Santa a letter tonight, and his reply will be waiting when you wake up. It's free to write to Santa.
